RUDE DELIGHTS AWAIT IN SICKS APPEAL

The Kinsey Sicks, our local, self-named "Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet," are back with a new show, Sicks Appeal. This time around, the New Conservatory Theatre has given its mainstage to the infamous foursome, who sing their hearts out and camp it up with all the tacky gusto, wit and energy imaginable.

Rachel (Benjamin Schatz), Winnie (Irwin Keller), Trixie (Maurice Kelly), and Vaselina (Jerry Friedman) perform with two parts talent and one part obnoxiousness. Sometimes they lend their smooth pipes to some lovely material, but mostly they just go for the perverse. And, thankfully, their perversity is highly entertaining. Indeed it takes great wit (and no little skill) to turn "The Way We Were" into a four-part harmony about herpes, and "Don't Worry, Be Happy" into the Jewish anthem, "Worry." There is more to this show, however, than these rude delights, but I won't spoil the thrill of discovery by detailing them here.
